Olivia Colman gives yet another bravura performance in this delightfully offbeat comedy, playing an outcast from her village who orders herself a wicker husband.
Fisherwoman is unmarried, allegedly smelly, constantly teased by her small-minded neighbours and desperate to keep to herself. But when she decides to see what life would be like with a very particular kind of mail-order husband, what arrives (a statuesque Alexander Skarsgård) soon sparks jealousy and creates chaos. Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s wonderfully eccentric fable is, at its core, a gentle love story.

Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) stars in this adaptation of Suzie Miller’s globally acclaimed play that examines what happens when an ambitious barrister who primarily defends those accused of sex crimes unexpectedly becomes the accuser in a sexual assault case.

Anchored by a powerhouse performance from Cynthia Erivo, this piercing legal drama examines what happens when an ambitious barrister who primarily defends those accused of sex crimes unexpectedly becomes the accuser. Adapted by Australian playwright Suzie Miller from her globally acclaimed one-woman show with Jodie Comer, and directed by Susanna White (Our Kind of Traitor, Woman Walks Ahead), Prima Facie exposes the pitfalls of a legal system that places the burden of proof on the victim.

Having risen from a working-class background to a successful career in law, Tessa (Erivo) does not suffer fools. She is a formidable presence in the courtroom, expertly dismantling opposing arguments, uncovering vulnerabilities, and holding her adversaries to the highest standards of jurisprudence. For Tessa, the nature of a client’s alleged crime is irrelevant: she believes the legal system operates optimally when all parties are given the strongest possible representation. However, her life is turned upside down when she is sexually assaulted by a colleague, forcing her to experience first-hand just how merciless — and misogynistic — the law can be toward already-traumatized women who are merely seeking justice.

Backed by a magnificent supporting cast that includes Daniel Ings, Elizabeth Dulau, and Simon Russell Beale, Erivo is at once devastating and inspiring in this dauntingly complex role. “Prima facie” is a Latin expression meaning “based on first impression,” and this hard-hitting, intelligent film shows just how unreliable initial assessments can be.

A Talent for Murder

A Talent for Murder (15)

Friday 11 Dec 20262:30pm5:00pm7:30pm
Monday 14 Dec 20264:30pm

This smouldering chamber thriller from director Anton Corbijn (Control) imagines a strange confrontation between a literary agent and legendary author Patricia Highsmith, whose acclaimed, icily intelligent crime novels were the source material for such classic films as Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley. Adapted by Joanna Murray-Smith from her play Switzerland and starring Alden Ehrenreich (Fair Play), Olivia Cooke (Sound of Metal) and Oscar winner Helen Mirren, A Talent For Murder pits ruthless careerism against dark genius in a slippery battle of wills.

It is 1995, and American author Highsmith (Mirren), now in her seventies and in poor health, has retired to the Swiss Alps, where she largely confines herself to her study, surrounded by her books, her cats, and her collection of antique weapons. Enter Edward Ridgeway (Ehrenreich), emissary for a New York publisher sent to persuade Highsmith to craft one last instalment in her bestselling series of mysteries featuring the murderous antihero, Tom Ripley. Irritated by this youthful, overly eager visitor, Highsmith refuses the offer — unless, that is, Ridgeway can dream up the perfect murder along with her.

Highsmith was famously charismatic and problematic — and as wickedly manipulative as her most celebrated character. Mirren embodies the formidable scribe with seductive wit, while Ehrenreich infuses Ridgeway with enough duplicity to keep us unsure of his motives. With its brilliant twists and trenchant dialogue, A Talent for Murder is a deeply intriguing foray into the realm where history and myth become deliciously entangled.

It's Christmas time and the Griswolds are preparing for a family seasonal celebration, but things never run smoothly for Clark, his wife Ellen and their two kids.

Before there was Bad Santa, the Griswolds were already besmirching the holiness of Christmas with general ill will and sarcasm. That’s not what they set out to do, of course. In fact, having survived both Wally World and Europe, Clark (funniest man alive Chevy Chase) and his family are now attempting to have a “good old-fashioned family Christmas.” What could go wrong?

Derek vs Derek

Derek vs Derek (15)

Sunday 13 Dec 20266:00pm

On a country road in Devon, intensive dairy farmer Derek Banbury is horrified at the “devastation” of  his neighbour’s once productive farm. Dubbed a “maverick rewilder” by the media, Derek Gow is an unrepentant ex-sheep farmer hellbent on turning his land into an oasis for nature.

Shot over three years the film charts the two Derek’s turbulent relationship, as tempers fray, wild animals run amok, and the land is radically transformed.

Made by award-winning director James Dawson, it’s a film about land use and farming told by farmers. Blunt, funny and heartwarming in equal measure.

Pressure (2026)

Pressure (2026) (12A)

Monday 14 Dec 20262:00pm

PRESSURE is based on the acclaimed play, the true story of the 72 hours leading up to D-Day. The largest amphibious assault ever has been assembled and any delays risk German intelligence catching on. Britain's chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) must convince the entire Allied operations led by American General ‘Ike’ Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) to trust his unconventional methods and alter their deployment plans. The lives of millions and the fate of the war hangs in the balance of these few short days.

"This is a serious film in the best sense of the term, a thoughtful film about people facing the direst problems with honor, intelligence, and courage that goes beyond the physical to include fearlessness about pursuing the truth."

You Can See Everything

You Can See Everything (12A)

Monday 14 Dec 20267:00pm
Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim comes this universally acclaimed documentary.
Thirty-four days before she’s sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move. What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss. From boundary-pushing directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim comes You Can See Everything. “
You will likely have no idea what you have just seen, besides that it's simply, unabashedly, unashamedly brilliant.” – Rolling Stone
“There is something extremely satisfying in watching Fielder’s sharp angles tangle with Holmes’s disposition of guileless warmth, a strange and compelling chemistry building within a reality distortion field” – The Guardian
“Not just the film of the year—it’s a documentary that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the form’s all-time greats.” – The Daily Beast
