Nuts In May (PG)

Tuesday 30 Jul 20197:45pm

We are excited to announce that the Film Feast Suffolk programme launch will take place on Tuesday 30th July at The Riverside with Film Feast patron, Mike Leigh, in attendance.

Sir Michael Palin was our guest to launch the Film Feast Suffolk programme that took place in Woodbridge last year but, following the festival’s success, Mike Leigh will be announcing our full programme which this year will take place in 16 venues right across Suffolk from the 4th to 7th October.

Mike Leigh has had an incredible career in both film and theatre as a writer/director spanning more than five decades. He has picked up countless accolades along the way including the Palme d’Or at Cannes, the Golden Lion in Venice, he’s been Oscar nominated seven times and BAFTA have bestowed a number of awards upon him including the Michael Balcon Award in 1996, the David Lean Award for Direction in 2005 and more recently in 2015, he was awarded a BAFTA Fellowship.

Everybody has their own favourite Mike Leigh film be it Abigail’s Party, Life is Sweet, Naked, Topsy Turvy, Vera Drake or Secrets and Lies to name just a few. To fit in with our food theme, we have chosen NUTS IN MAY from 1976. We will also be screening alongside it, Mike’s short film, A LIGHT SNACK, from 1982.

NUTS IN MAY stars Alison Steadman as Candice-Marie and Roger Sloman as her husband, Keith. It is a lighthearted comic tale of a possessive husband who takes his timorous wife on a camping holiday in Dorset, with often disastrous consequences.

The evening will start at The Riverside at 5:45pm with the option of a three-course dinner with Mike Leigh in attendance, based around the camping theme of the film. Tickets for the three course dinner plus film and Q&A are £38 and strictly limited in number. Alternatively a ticket to just see the film and Q&A will be £7 with the film starting at 7:45pm.

Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Friday 28th June, you can buy them from the website or from their Box Office on 01394 382174

Film Feast would like to express their thanks to their Headline Sponsor, the East of England Co-Op, who will have their own food van parked outside The Riverside offering food to those who wish to buy something on the night and eat al fresco!

Film Feast would also very much like to thank their Main Sponsor, Imaginative Traveller.  Big thanks also go to Sharon and Brian of The Tea Hut in Woodbridge who have kindly agreed to sponsor this programme launch Gala Event.
